Guidelines for Use

Always meet people for the first time in a public place, and take a friend with you or tell someone where you are going and when you expect to return. Be cautious about going alone to the homes of others.

Always be clear about the details of a trade before agreeing to it: what will be done, when and how many Ms it will cost.

If you are not sure about a transaction, do not go through with it. Manchester LETS takes no responsibility for the quality of any goods or work offered.

Always be truthful in your dealings with others on the site. Don’t claim to have any qualifications or experience you don’t have, or say you have time to do something if you haven’t.

Remain polite and respectful at all times in your dealings with other users.

Do not use the site to engage in illegal activity.

Check that the people you are dealing with have the appropriate qualifications. For example, anyone doing work on gas appliances should be Gas Safe (formerly CORGI) registered, and people who childmind regularly should be OFSTED registered. It may also be necessary to enquire about insurance.

Please stick to the site policy of a ‘minimum wage’ of 6M per hour, and ask for and pay a fair amount. Ms have no sterling value, but can be thought of as roughly equivalent to a £.
